More Conservative Than Rob Wittman (R-VA1)
On the conservative FreedomWorks PAC website, Representative Rob Wittman (R-VA1) of Virginia’s 1st Congressional District actually scored a low 55 on FreedomWorks 2014 House Key Votes scorecard of the 113th Congress.
His voting record shows that his conservatism is not on par with other more conservative congressional representatives but at least 45% lower. In comparison, Justin Amash’s (R-MI3) scorecard is 100; Jim Bridenstine’s (R-OK1) scorecard is 100; and Louie Gohmert’s (R-TX1) scorecard is 100.
In surprising contrast, some of the democratic congressional representatives are on par with Rep. Wittman of Virginia. For instance, Mike McIntyre’s (D-NC7) scorecard is 55; Jim Matheson’s (D-UT4) scorecard is 55; and John Barrow’s (D-GA12) scorecard is 55. Even Eric Cantor’s (R-VA7) scorecard of 40 measures lower than Rep. Wittman’s and the three Democrats.
Based on this new information, I just might run for Virginia’s 1st Congressional District in 2016 with the message of being more conservative than Rep. Wittman based on his own voting record. A grassroots organization with less than $200,000 campaign funds can win the 2016 race with the help of a nearby university, economics professors and an urban, diverse population base.
