SBA List - Advancing, Mobilizing and Representing Pro-Life Women
James Pat,

As a member of the SBA List family, I have both good news and bad news that I need to share with you.

… First, the bad news.

As you know, during the health care fight, the entire pro-life movement was betrayed by a group of so-called “pro-life” Democrats who caved to President Obama and handed him the votes needed to pass ObamaCare, the biggest expansion of abortion on-demand since Roe v. Wade.

Thanks to your support during the midterm elections, the SBA List defeated 15 out of 20 of those turncoats and replaced them with authentic pro-life leaders. One of those Representatives we targeted was Congressman Steve Driehaus of Ohio—who reacted to his defeat by filing a federal defamation lawsuit claiming “loss of livelihood.”

Just this week we learned that a federal judge—appointed by President Obama—denied our motion for summary judgment against this frivolous law suit — opening the door for our case to go to trial for defamation — and dismissed our challenge to Ohio’s “false statement” law.

… Now, the good news.

If ex-Rep. Driehaus and his allies think that this ridiculous lawsuit will deter us from our pro-life work, then they clearly don’t know the SBA List very well. Next week, we are launching a bus tour in Iowa with the Family Research Council and National Organization for Marriage to ensure that we elect a pro-life president in 2012.

We refuse to let this lawsuit deter us from our goal: educating voters across this country about Barack Obama’s horrific record on Life, especially taxpayer funding of abortion in Obamacare.

However, we simply cannot continue our Life-saving work without your generous support.

To date, we have spent just over $245,000 in legal fees in this lawsuit. Clearly, we have a lot more fight on our hands as the case moves forward with the potential for discovery and a full-blown trial.

We refuse to slow down. Instead, your SBA List only plans on ramping things up as the 2012 election cycle continues to pick up steam.

We are headed to Iowa first because it is the “first in the nation” caucus state. Our four-day bus tour will visit 22 cities, covering 1,305 miles. Our bus tour will end at the all-important Ames Iowa Straw Poll, the unofficial kick-off of the Republican presidential primary race and a key organizational test for the candidates.

All along the way, we’ll be getting the word out directly to the voters about our Pro-Life Presidential Leadership Pledge, defining what it means to be a pro-life leader and how important it is that we elect one to replace Barack Obama in the White House.

James Pat, without a doubt the pro-abortion lobby and the candidates they support are rejoicing at the news of the Judge’s ruling this week. The ultimate goal of this lawsuit is to shut the SBA List down. They don’t want to see our successes from the 2010 election cycle ever repeated again, especially with President Obama’s re-election on the line in 2012.

But as you can see, we refuse to let them win. And we know we’ll ultimately be victorious because of the humbling and generous support of our members.

Please make a donation of any size right now. Your contribution will help us pay our mounting legal bills and ensure we have the resources to continue our mission of electing authentic pro-life leaders to Washington, so we can pass laws that save lives with the ultimate goal of ending abortion in America.

I will keep you updated as this lawsuit continues, but know that we will persevere. And you can most certainly look forward to updates from Congresswoman Musgrave straight from the bus next week!

Thank you – sincerely – for your continued dedication toward our shared cause of ending abortion.

For Life,

Marjorie Dannenfelser
President, Susan B. Anthony List
