Albane Gallery Blasphemes Our Lady | James Pat Guerréro

The artist Soasig Chamaillard blasphemed statues of Our Lady as the following: half animal and half human, Superwoman Mary, a vampire Mary, and even a My Little Pony Mary. These statues are on display at the Albane Gallery in the city of Nantes, France. Chamaillard responds in paraphrase that one’s faith should be stronger than blasphemous “simple objects,” and that one should step back from increasing one’s faith on “simple objects.” Chamaillard, calling statues “simple objects,” not only crafts blasphemous objects of Our Lady, but also separates the faithful from a window into theology and from looking at Our Lady, as she is.
